CURRENT PROJECTS UNDERWAY AT GOD'S RIDGE FARM
PROJECT 1 - THE BARN (2014-2015)
Phase 1 - The center section of the barn and the hay loft.
When our barn is completely finished it will measure 30' X 30'. It will include 5 stalls, a tack room and a hay loft. Our barn was rather inexpensive to build. While we used traditional lumber for framing and the rafters we used sawmill oak for the siding. So far we have less than $600.00 in the metal roofing. With only one more section to add this year, we will have less than $2500 total in the barn when it is complete. Currently our hay loft holds roughly 325 bales of hay.

PROJECT 2 - CLEARING LAND AND OPENING NEW AREAS
Clearing land and brush to open new areas is a family affair around here, and a job that seems to never end.
It might not ever end, but it is something that at the end of the day you can see how all of your hard work has paid off. Pretty rewarding! We have decided to clear the rest of our land by hand, as using a dozer strips away the topsoil and exposes dead, red clay. Not a good thing for trying to growing pastures. |
